Discussion of Findings

Image
The study reveals that podcasts have a notable impact on the entertainment experiences of young adults in the UK, particularly through comedy and engaging content. This aligns with Craig et al. (2023), who found that podcast listeners are capable of engaging deeply in entertainment. Rime et al. (2022) confirmed that some young adults turned to podcasting as an alternative to traditional media to gain 'information', 'diversion', and 'companionship', which were the main motives for listening to the radio. Furthermore, the findings indicate that young adults embrace podcasts as a means of entertainment. This is consistent with Jensen (2024), who highlighted the growing trend of podcast consumption among youth for entertainment purposes. Charles-Hatt & Sayers (2021) also noted that a record 7.1 million UK adults now listen to podcasts weekly, underscoring their popularity as seen in this link:  https://intellectdiscover.com/content/journals/10.1386/rjao_00044_...
